ROLE: PRODUCTION SPECIALIST Within tight overlapping schedules for 12 catalogs per year, responsible for successfully scheduling and organizing outside vendors (designers, editor, headline writer, proofreader, printers, and prepress) for design/production of each catalog and concurrently organize the Gump´s in-house staff (C.E.O., V.P., legal, book manager, buyers, inventory, web maintenance and marketing) for proofing of catalog, while at the same time successfully take direction from the creative director and perform complete production (layout, copyflow, copyfitting, typesetting and image retreival) for successful printing of each catalog. Deliver CD of all relative files to prepress vendor.
RESULTS: 1. Improved
the look of the catalog by professionally typesetting all copy, making the logo and headlines print more solidly, resetting order form for legibility. 2. Successfully improved Gumps catalog proofing method by analyzing and assessing a more efficient approach to speed the production of each catalog. 3. Successfully implemented the use of an FTP site between production specialist and vendors to save on messenger costs and add to the communication speed between vendors and production. 4. Devised a catalog timeline for each catalog which successfully proved to be a useful tool for the production manager, creative director and production specialist.
